Wendy Jones’s bestselling biography of the Turner Prize winner, Sir Grayson Perry, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Girl has sold over 100,000 copies and is currently being turned into a musical for performance at the Old Vic in 2025. Her previous non-fiction book, The Sex Lives of English Women: Intimate Questions, Unexpected Answers was serialised in The Sunday Times and turned into an Instagram series by BAFTA-winning actress, Joanna Scanlan and stared Miriam Magolyes. Wendy has a PhD from Goldsmiths on writing interview-based biographies and oral history. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The London Review of Books, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Observer, The Los Angeles Times, Vogue, and Elle, among others, and her books have been published in eleven languages.
Wendy is working with Martin Parr on his first authorised autobiography. She first saw Martin’s work in the 1992 BBC TV series, The Sign of the Times, about British interiors. Not knowing Martin and his satirical work and style, she was profoundly affected by his documentary approach. In 2004 they met through their mutual friend, Grayson Perry, and have been friends ever since.
